This week we thought we’d treat you to something a little different: a vignette we’re feeling especially inspired by at the store…

The chippy fireplace, the iron gate, the antique chaise, the gilded mirror — it all comes together so beautifully. Like European-rustic-industrial chic. Not too stuffy, not too girlie. Makes us want to curl up with some high-brow book while sipping espresso.

This mirror would be fabulous above a mantle. But it would be equally great as a dressing mirror or in an entrance way. Classic.

The iron gate and fireplace were meant for each other, don’t you think? And don’t forget a lovely Trapp Candle to finish the whole picture. Lavender de Provence, perhaps?

Our next fabulous find may look familiar. Perhaps you’ve seen something like this in the retail furniture world. Perhaps you thought “Wow, doesn’t that look authentic?” Perhaps it was overpriced. Well feast your eyes on this wooden treasure — an original industrial rolling cart full of years and character.

Check out the cool detail work.

Picture it as an accent piece or as a coffee table. Beautiful and functional!

There’s nothing like one-of-a-kind!

When I was a kid, I ruled the dining room dimmer switch. My mom had this gorgeous vintage painted chandelier, and I was obsessed with casting just the right light over our nightly meal. Too bright, and you’re in the doctor’s office. Too dim, and you can’t tell whether the potatoes touched the green beans (I was a picky eater, too. Sorry, Mom.)
The thing about lighting is that it makes a big statement in a not-so-obvious way. It’s easy to notice a bright couch or big piece of art hanging on the wall, but the right lighting is like the right make-up application — so perfect that it’s inconspicuous.
That’s the great thing about crystal chandeliers. They blend with a room’s other styles and colors while providing a POP of something special.

Slap a dimmer switch on these babies, and you’re in business!

With pleasant weather greeting us for the first (first!) time since 2010 began, we thought it was cause for celebration. We’re digging this retro lounge chair — recovered with a bright birdcage print. Can’t think of a better way to soak up the Florida sunshine. Sit this baby on a porch or by your window, curl up with a book and enjoy.

Check out the matching ottoman…

Want a closer look at this adorable fabric? Doesn’t it just make you smile?

Wow!

Has anyone else noticed the bleachers going up on Bayshore? Oh yes, it’s that time of year. Don your beads, pour a cocktail and prepare to be invaded. Gasparilla is right around the corner.
Perhaps your hosting a party (you brave soul, you.) Sure, you could hang some colorful strands down the stairwell, but why not really making a splash with a hand-made pirate centerpiece? This marauder bust just screams, “Don’t spill any salsa!” don’t you think?

If you really want to be original, consider hanging some vintage Tampa prints like this one. Let your mind wander to simpler times when there were more trees than buildings and people didn’t puke in your yard. Sounds nice, huh?

And of course, with any themed event, costumes must be considered. Throw on this velvety cap and you’ll be the belle of the ball.

Argggggggg!

We had so much fun at the first Fresh Threads/ Blue Moon Sip and Shop event. Hopefully you did too!

We mixed and mingled, we toasted champagne, and best of all — we shopped! But if you missed it, don’t worry. January 7th’s Sip and Shop was just the first of many.

We’re already gearing up for our next Sip and Shop — Feb 11th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Can’t wait!

Maybe this new year you’ve made a list of pesky flaws to work on. Maybe you’ve vowed to make THIS the year for reinvention. Maybe you’ll be a new YOU come 2011. Here at Blue Moon, we already think you’re perfect. But when it comes to furniture, there’s always room for improvement.
Take this fabulous chippy kitchen island. Sturdy, colorful and full of character. What could be better than that?

How about the fact that this island was recreated from a big old door? Check out the front detail with the old metal hardware.

It’s all thanks to a Blue Moon friend who builds furniture out of architectural salvage, including custom work. Call Blue Moon to work it out.
Maybe this is the year you reinvent yourself AND your favorite furniture. Hmm?
