Lighten up for spring

March 7, 2010

Warmer weather is finally (finally!) sneaking back into our lives. As we peel off our winter clothes and put them back where they belong — storage — we can’t help but think that our homes could use a little lightening up, too.

Check out these gorgeous hand-painted Italian flameback chairs. Upholstered in blue-and-white vintage French ticking fabric, they’re perfect for welcoming spring. And they’re comfy too!

Brunch anyone?

Help wanted!

March 7, 2010

Love what you see? Want to be part of the Blue Moon team? We’re looking for a hard-working, stylish someone to operate the store on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Interested? Come by the store to apply!

What every kitchen deserves

February 28, 2010

This fantastic wheeled chopping block has been getting a lot of attention since it arrived in the shop. Made of a solid hunk of maple, it’s sturdy enough to withstand all your cooking adventures. Plus, it’s got a warm, homey feel that’ll bring your kitchen to life.

This is the kind of thing we love at Blue Moon — a piece with it’s own special character. Something one-of-a-kind that seems meant just for you.

This one comes from Miami. We’re not quite sure of the age, but the soft edges are indicative of many years of hands running along it’s side. It’s knife many impressions tell of family brunches, holiday suppers and parties. Just imagine the stories locked in the wood. Yours could be, too.

Each edge is 2-and-a-half-feet, and it sits 32 inches off the floor. The cost is $895. (You should know that a similar one was appraised at $2,000.)

There’s a blue moon on its way!

February 26, 2010

Exciting news! It’s time for another BLUE MOON SALE this weekend!

All day Saturday and Sunday everything in the store (excluding Trapp candles) is 15 percent off.

Don’t miss it!

Brand new custom creations!

February 23, 2010

Sure, we all love to find that perfect piece of scavenged perfection — that treasure tucked away in the corner of some antique store or flea market that seems made just for you. But once in awhile, it’s cool to have something that really WAS made just for YOU. And it’s even cooler if that something is made from bits and pieces of other salvaged treasures!

Thanks to a good friend of Blue Moon who has a 5,000-square foot architectural salvage warehouse outside of Vadalia, Ga., we have three new amazing items in the store. Each of these is an example of custom pieces you could order yourself!

This gorgeous farm table is made of 2×8 heart pine planks that are more than 100 years old! This is sold, but another is expected to arrive in the store Saturday! The price will be $1,450.

Also already scooped up is this huge wooden cabinet with french door fronts. So much storage! Another one, also $1,495, should be in on Saturday!

This black cabinet can be used as a bar, server, kitchen island or media station. We just love the wood top contrasted with the dark front. This one is $795.

And, like we said, you can order your own custom pieces similar to these in whatever size you need. Call us to set it up!

If you’ve got the space, scoop this up fast!

February 17, 2010

We’re so obsessed with this 10-foot-long industrial table that we’ve put it right in our front window. Can’t believe it’s still around! (Maybe, depending on when you read this…) Anyway, if you’ve got the space for a 10-foot-long gorgeous wooden-and-teal-metal dining table — well, first of all, we’re jealous, and secondly, GET THIS!

Getting the whole thing in the picture was a challenge, OK? But surely you can see how cool this is. Plus, we’ve sanded down and completely refinished the top, making it perfectly sanitary for dining or just hanging out.

Did we mention the teal metal detail? LOVE.

February Sip and Shop!

February 9, 2010

It’s that time again, and we couldn’t be more excited! Time for another SIP AND SHOP!

Last month’s event was so much fun, and we’ve been looking forward to February’s ever since. Come visit Fresh Threads and Blue Moon for snacks and drinks and fabulous deals from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11! By the way, 10 percent of Fresh Treads proceeds will go to the charity of the month – The Ronald McDonald House of Tampa Bay. As if you needed MORE motivation to stop by!

We’ll see you then!

Euro trip

February 5, 2010

This week we thought we’d treat you to something a little different: a vignette we’re feeling especially inspired by at the store…

The chippy fireplace, the iron gate, the antique chaise, the gilded mirror — it all comes together so beautifully. Like European-rustic-industrial chic. Not too stuffy, not too girlie. Makes us want to curl up with some high-brow book while sipping espresso.

This mirror would be fabulous above a mantle. But it would be equally great as a dressing mirror or in an entrance way. Classic.

The iron gate and fireplace were meant for each other, don’t you think? And don’t forget a lovely Trapp Candle to finish the whole picture. Lavender de Provence, perhaps?

Full moon sale!

January 28, 2010

It’s that time again… time for a FULL MOON SALE! Is everyone as excited as we are? Stop by the shop during normal hours Thursday and Friday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) for 15 percent off everything! What a fabulous way to bid adieu to January!

Just a side note — the store will be closed on Saturday and Sunday due to the Gasparilla invasion festivities, so hurry in before then for our great deals. See you soon!

We’re on a roll with our newest find!

January 26, 2010

Our next fabulous find may look familiar. Perhaps you’ve seen something like this in the retail furniture world. Perhaps you thought “Wow, doesn’t that look authentic?” Perhaps it was overpriced. Well feast your eyes on this wooden treasure — an original industrial rolling cart full of years and character.

Check out the cool detail work.

Picture it as an accent piece or as a coffee table. Beautiful and functional!

There’s nothing like one-of-a-kind!
